Sipmetry Last updated: June 3, 2026
Sipmetry (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a cocktail recommendation and bar management app. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
You can create a Sipmetry account in one of three ways: with your email address and a password, with Sign in with Apple, or with Sign in with Google. In all cases we collect your email address, which is used to create and authenticate your account through our authentication provider (Supabase).
If you register with an email and password, your password is securely handled and stored by Supabase in hashed form; we never have access to your plain-text password. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the information Apple provides, which may include a private relay email address — we fully respect your choice to use Apple’s “Hide My Email” feature and will never attempt to discover your real email address beyond what Apple provides. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information (which may include your name and profile picture) through Google’s secure sign-in. With Apple and Google, we do not request access to any other data from these providers, such as your contacts, calendar, or files.
During your first sign-in, we ask for your birth year and birth month, along with your device region (country code), to verify that you meet the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction. Only your birth year is stored — in our database for age verification and aggregate analytics (such as understanding the age distribution of our users). Your birth month is used solely for the one-time age calculation at sign-in and is never stored. We do not ask for the day of your birth, and we do not collect or store your full date of birth.
You can add bottles to your personal inventory. This data is stored in our database and used solely to generate personalized cocktail recommendations.
We store your taste preferences, recipe favorites, and interaction history (such as likes, dislikes, and feedback). This data is used to build a personalized flavor profile that improves cocktail recommendations over time. Your flavor profile is derived from your in-app interactions and is used exclusively within Sipmetry to enhance your experience. It is never shared with third parties for advertising or external profiling purposes.
Sipmetry accesses your device camera or photo library only when you choose to scan bottles. Photos are sent to our server for AI-powered bottle identification and are not stored after processing. We do not collect or store any metadata associated with your photos (such as EXIF data or location information). We do not retain, share, or use your images for any purpose beyond the immediate identification request.
If you enable push notifications, we store your device’s push token to send you relevant notifications such as low-stock alerts. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
Sipmetry includes two kinds of feedback. First, when you rate recipes (such as likes and dislikes), we store these ratings to improve our recommendation engine. Second, you can send us free-text feedback or bug reports through the in-app feedback form; when you do, the message content, the category you select, and your app version are sent to us, linked to your account, and used to understand issues and improve the app. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in free-text feedback. If you delete your account, your recipe ratings and any feedback you submitted are deleted.
When you use Sipmetry, our servers automatically receive and record certain technical information, including your IP address, request timestamps, and general device information (such as operating system and app version). This data is collected through standard server logs hosted on our infrastructure provider (Render) and is used solely for debugging, security monitoring, and service reliability. We do not use log data for advertising or behavioral profiling, and it is not linked to any third-party data for tracking purposes. Server logs are retained for approximately 30 days before being automatically purged by our hosting provider.
We also collect crash and error diagnostics through Sentry to identify and fix bugs. These diagnostics include the app version, operating system, and technical error details (such as a crash stack trace). They are not attached to your IP address or other personal identifiers, and we do not record your screen or in-app activity. This data is used solely to improve app stability.
We use your data exclusively to:
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. We do not engage in cross-app tracking.
Sipmetry relies on the following third-party services to operate:
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple (identity provider) | We receive your email (or a private relay address if you use Hide My Email) and the name you choose to share, when you sign in with Apple; we do not send your data to Apple |
| Sign in with Google (identity provider) | We receive your email and basic profile from Google when you choose to sign in with Google; we do not send your data to Google | |
| Supabase | Authentication and database hosting | Email, account data, all user-generated content |
| OpenAI | AI-powered bottle image identification | Photos you submit for scanning (processed via API; strictly for identification; encrypted in transit; not stored after processing; not used for model training) |
| Expo | Push notification delivery | Device push tokens |
| Render | Backend server hosting | All data transiting through our API, including server logs |
| Sentry | Crash and error diagnostics | Anonymized crash reports and error events (app version, OS, error stack). IP address is not attached (PII collection disabled). No session recording. |
We access OpenAI solely through their API, which does not use submitted data for training AI models. For details, refer to OpenAI’s API data usage policy.
Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them:
We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, or cross-app tracking tools.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Upon account deletion, an automated deletion process begins immediately:
Account deletion is irreversible and cannot be undone.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit, secure authentication via Supabase, and access-controlled server infrastructure on Render. API endpoints are protected with rate limiting and authentication requirements. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Sipmetry is an alcohol-related application and is not intended for use by anyone under the legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. The app includes an age verification step that prevents underage users from accessing the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
